Denton County Constable Ken Jannereth was sentenced to 6 months in prison, on a suspended sentence for 2 years. Judge Richard Podgorski issued the maximum sentence at the behest of the District Attorney's office, and also included a provision that Jannereth not drink alcohol during the probation. He must also take anger management classes. The DA had also asked that his peace officer license be suspended, but the judge denied that request. The DA will appeal that decision with the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education (TCLEOSE)
Jannereth destroyed barricades on a road adjacent to his property that he felt were illegally placed. However his HOA had put them there to keep vehicles from going down the road. Subsequently he was found guilty last month of a class B misdemeanor.
It's great that the Republicans we have running this county can be convicts and still carry a weapon and enforce the law. Just another day in Denton County.
