Some absentee ballots in the DFW area are going to be larger than the standard envelope, which is only 42 cents to mail. A Highland Village man had his ballot returned for insufficient postage, according to the DMN. However, even being larger in size, the envelopes weigh under the standard one ounce.
Postal workers have been instructed to affix additional postage on the letters themselves if needed, but apparently everyone is not paying attention to this. This poses a major problem if races come down to the wire and are determined by a handful of votes. When is Texas going to learn to make mailing ballots free to the public?
