Economy Is Not A "Drive By Shooting". It's A "Whack Job"!

John McCain describes the economic crisis as a "drive by shooting" by Wall Street and Washington on the innocent homeowning bystanders. It is anything but that.

A drive by would suggest it was random. A drive by is rarely well planned or thought out. A hail of bullets come from nowhere. Our economic situation was not random and is not a spray of gunfire. Both Wall Street and Washington knew what was going to happen and ignored the problem. This was not a drive by. This was a planned Mafia style whack job hit on the taxpayers of the United States.

John McCain has been in Congress since 1982. 26 years, folks! He has seen the ups and downs of the American economy, and should have been the first to acknowledge our doom when he saw it coming. but he failed to act. Just like his bailout of Charles Keating in the 1980s, he did nothing to help in this decade, and in fact made it worse by issuing calls to deregulate every financial institution around. George W Bush, in his blissful ignorance, kept touting our economy as "good" and "strong". McCain even did the same only months ago.

But anyone in the finance industry, shipping industry, or any other job in this country saw the writing on the wall months ago, if not a year ago. The dollar has steadily declined. Imports into this country have come to a virtual standstill since last year. Energy prices skyrocketed. Foreclosures continue at an all time high. How could you not see it coming?

John McCain does a disservice to himself and to his party by claiming they didn't know this was going to happen. Their failed economic policies from 1994 to 2006 have finally become the shit hitting the fan. The only way to bring about change at the top, is by rubbing out the boss. It's well past time for Obama's whack job to be ordered on the Bush/McCain policies.
