Bartonville Republicans Indicted For Voter Fraud In Denton County

A Denton County couple has been indicted on felony charges of illegal voting. Teresa Lee Rather and Ralph Edward Rather voted in the Argyle general election, knowing they were not eligible to do so. The couple resided in the town of Bartonville, but registered to vote using a commercial address in Argyle. We ran the story originally this past July.
The Rathers claim they did not know the law, however that is suspect given their penchant for forming a political action committee. Both have turned themselves in and posted a $500 bond each. The charge, a third-degree felony, carries a possible sentence of 10 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
The case is now pending in the 16th District Court, presided over by Republican Judge Carmen Rivera-Worley, who is up for reelection facing Democrat Karen Guerra. We wonder if Judge Rivera-Worley will bring the case before the November election? Teresa Rather's arraignment hearing is scheduled for September 22. Ralph Rather's has not yet been scheduled.
