We love going through our weekly entertainment/odd ball news source the Dallas Observer just to see what kind of music acts are coming to the DFW area. We flipped to the Nokia Theater ad to see if any aging 70s and 80s acts were getting ready to do their obligatory "damn we're broke and need retirment money" tour. Greying mullets and afros rule!
Dolly Parton. Still kicking it and looking good as ever. Alicia Keys. Well she's not old and pretty hot for a lesbian (yes we know she really isn't a lesbian, but her record label felt she looked like one when she wore track suits and dredlocks, and made her put on more dresses- no joke- but that is off topic). George Lopez. The Bill Cosby of Latinos. Boston & Styx. There's our broke bands! "More Than A Feeling" and "Come Sail Away" in one set. We can forsee a lot of minivans in that parking lot.
Then we came to two announcements that sent chills down our spine. Bill O'Reilly and Glenn Beck. *Shudder* Yes folks. In the spirit of liberal icons such as Al Gore and Bill Clinton running the speaking circuit and pulling in millions of dollars, the right wing media icons hit the road in seperate egagements. We're pretty sure these two can talk for a long time, but do you really want to pay to hear them talk about how you should vote for Hillary to beat Obama? We can hear that for free on television. But you can go see O'Reilly for a factor of $49-89 a pop. The same price for Beck. And that's Glenn Beck. Not the Beck who has much better music and is usually cheaper to see on tour.
We do have to admit these two are very popular among the right wing "indepedent" set, so they should fair well in Texas. But we'll save our money for Katt Williams or Earth, Wind, and Fire.
