Texas Cloverleaf Endorsements - Edwards and Noriega

Here at the Cloverleaf, we have decided rather than to start naming off every candidate in the state of Texas, we are going to make endorsements in the primaries. There are plenty of other blog sites that are impartial, and we never claimed we would be. We want to give everyone a voice here, but we also want you to know who the best choices are in our *opinion*. Opinions are like a*holes. Everybody has one. But you'll only get to look at ours!

United States President - John Edwards

We are not on the Hill'O Bama bandwagon. It would be nice to have a woman or black president in our lifetimes, but we aren't just going to jump on board with the first thing that comes along that actually stands a chance of winning. Look how well that is working for the Pelosi lovers in the room. You now who you are.

John Edwards may be a wealthy trial lawyer, but he was not born with a silver spoon in his mouth, nor was he handed his job and role in life. He earned it. He fought for his clients, such as a little girl who's intestines were ripped out of her body by a pool pump.

Someone who grew up in poverty, does not change their mind easily about where they came from. Nobody wants to go back to living that lifestyle, because nobody should have to. John Edwards is right in speaking out about one of the few crises in this country that can be stopped immediately. Global warming may take some time, but poverty could end tomorrow if the government put its mind in the right place.

We also endorse John Edwards because he is of course a former senator. He is also the former VP nominee in 2004, and has that experience running as a presidential candidate then and as the VP nominee. And of course, we love his wife!

United States Senator - TX Rep. Rick Noriega

Lt. Col. Rick Noriega gets our nod in the three way race for US Senate in Texas. We really have little against Mikal Watts and Emil Reichstadt. We feel, of these candidates, only Rick Noriega has the experience to lead.

Rick Noriega has represented TX House District 145 in Houston since 1998. He is a war veteran, serving in Afghanistan with the Army National Guard. He led the effort to help Hurricane Katrina victims during their exodus to Houston. He is also the Texas bloggers' choice of candidate, having been "drafted" by the blogosphere in the first place.

Watts with his millions, and Reichstadt with his imposing height, are both good people and great lawyers, but we have to go with sure thing in the race to unseat John Cornyn. Rick Noriega is the sure shot.
